INTRODUCTION

The construction boom that prevailed in the U.A.E. since the latter part of the 1970 encouraged emphasis in establishing self-sufficiency in the manufacture and processing of building materials, portland cement manufacture being the prime industry in this field. Fujairah Cement Industries was established in December 1979 to produce 500,000 tonnes of clinker and 520,000 tons of both Ordinary Portland cement and Sulphate Resisting cement conforming to American and British Standards.
